Sanding discs and sandpaper come in dozens of grit sizes for every stage of paint correction and spray preparation. The grit determines how aggressively you cut: P80 to P400 for heavy material removal, P600 to P1000 for levelling, P1200 to P3000 for finishing before polishing. Choose the right grit for the phase and the result you want.
Wet and dry sandpaper are not interchangeable: wet sandpaper has a water-resistant backing that doesn't break down on contact with water, while dry sandpaper clogs quickly when used wet. Check the specifications before adding water.
