Microstar is Mirka's film sanding disc for matting and correcting paint and clear coat. The smooth film backing, aluminium oxide grain and stearate top coating keep the disc from clogging as quickly as regular sandpaper and make it last longer. P1000 is the entry grit in this range, used to level deeper imperfections, light orange peel and old paint damage before you move on to P1200. The 150mm disc runs dry on a random orbital sander with hook and loop attachment, so you can switch grits quickly. The even grain spread gives a consistent scratch pattern across the whole panel, with less risk of burning through than with coarser sanding methods. Each pack contains 50 discs, enough for several panels or a full paint correction job. Always pair P1000 with an interface pad to spread pressure and protect contoured areas.
50 Mirka Microstar sanding discs with P1000 grit, 150mm diameter, film disc with hook and loop attachment for random orbital sanders
P1000 grit for fast correction of deeper paint damage and orange peel, effective yet manageable
Film backing stays smooth, less scratching risk than paper discs
Stearate coating keeps the disc open longer, resists clogging
50 discs per pack, enough for several panel jobs
Hook and loop attachment for quick grit changes
Pair with an interface pad to spread pressure and protect contoured areas
Clean and degrease the panel (Remove dirt, wax and old polish thoroughly so the disc does not clog prematurely while sanding.)
Mount the disc (Attach the P1000 disc to an interface pad and fix it onto your random orbital sander.)
Sand dry in passes (Work with light, even pressure and overlapping passes, checking paint thickness regularly to avoid burning through.)
Finish and move to P1200 (Wipe away all sanding dust with a clean microfiber towel before switching to the next, finer grit.)
Pair it with the Mirka hand sanding block for precision edge work, or move on to Koch-Chemie Heavy Quick Cut for the first polishing pass.
