An oil additive is added to the engine oil to improve lubrication, inhibit oxidation, or reduce wear. A fuel additive goes into the tank to keep injectors, valves, or the combustion system clean.

Slow cranking, an engine that struggles to start in cold weather, or a battery warning light are clear signs. A battery tester measures the remaining capacity in CCA and shows whether the battery is still within spec.

Standard construction adhesives are not. For engine bay applications, you need specifically heat-resistant adhesives certified to 200 degrees or higher. Always check the maximum operating temperature on the packaging.

Use a trickle charger that keeps the battery topped up without overcharging. After three months of inactivity, a regular battery is already significantly discharged and won't recover with a single start attempt.
