Rupes XC-2 Xtra Cut Compound

Rupes XC-2 Xtra Cut Compound is a heavy compound that delivers very fast correction on gelcoat and other hard industrial paint systems. Where the Mille and Rotativa gels are tuned to car paint, this formula is built for jobs where a lot of material needs to come off quickly, for example after sanding or with heavy oxidation damage on boats and RVs. XC-2 works on both rotary and dual action machines and pairs best with a wool polishing pad for the fastest material removal, or a coarse microfiber pad on very hard surfaces. Because of the aggressive formula, this compound does require experience: keep the machine moving constantly and work in smaller sections to avoid overheating the surface. Never use XC-2 on thin or delicate paint layers, and check the paint film thickness first if in doubt. After this heavy correction step, always follow up with a finer polish to turn the dull, coarse finish into gloss. Available in 1 kilogram (850ml).

How to use

1. Attach a wool or coarse microfiber pad and place a few dots of compound on it. (Spread it across the panel at low speed first.)

2. Work in smaller sections at medium to high speed. (Keep the machine moving constantly to avoid overheating.)

3. Wipe off the residue with a thick microfiber towel. (Check the surface for any remaining damage or dull spots.)

4. Follow up with a finer polish for the gloss finish. (This removes the dull, coarse finish that XC-2 leaves behind.)

Pair it with a lambswool polishing pad, measure the paint film first with the Etari thickness gauge, mount a flexible Chemical Guys backing plate, and wipe off with a thick Workhorse microfiber towel.
