Menzerna Medium Cut Polish 2500 is a medium polish for swirls, light scratches and lost gloss in the clear coat. Menzerna rates it a cut of 5 and a gloss of 7: enough cutting power for marks up to P3000, with a fine gloss as the result. You apply it by machine with a medium pad and work the paint in passes. What Medium Cut Polish 2500 does
Medium Cut 2500 sits in the middle of the polishing ladder: stronger than a finishing polish, milder than a heavy compound. Menzerna states it removes sanding and usage marks up to P3000 while laying down a high gloss. The formula is silicone-free and without fillers, which matters: fillers hide scratches temporarily instead of truly polishing them out, and they come back after a few washes. With this polish the result you see is the result that stays.
Where it sits in the polishing ladder
For swirls and light scratches you often start straight with Medium Cut 2500. If there are deeper scratches, you first use a heavy compound such as the Menzerna Heavy Cut Compound 400 and then remove the haze with Medium Cut 2500. Menzerna advises following a medium polish with a finishing polish to remove any holograms and reach the deepest gloss. How to use it
Clean, dry work area. Wash and degrease the paint first so no grit sits between pad and paint.
Dose the product. For a 40 by 40 cm area use about 3 to 4 drops on a 95mm pad, 5 on a 150mm pad and 6 to 7 on a 180mm pad.
Work in a cross pattern. Spread at low speed and then work in a cross pattern with even, moderate pressure at a constant speed.
Work out and wipe off. Work until the product looks almost transparent and oily, and wipe off the residue with a clean microfiber cloth.
Pad, machine and speed
Use a medium foam pad. Medium Cut 2500 works with a dual-action machine and with a rotary machine, and by hand is possible too. On hard paint Menzerna names about 1250 rpm for a rotary; with a DA machine you keep a medium setting. Work with even pressure and let the polish do the work rather than pressing hard, and you get the most even gloss.
Tips for the best result
Work in small sections of about 40 by 40 cm, so you keep an overview and the polish does not dry out.
Check your result under a bright lamp or in direct light; you only see swirls properly at the right angle.
Keep the pad clean and tap it out regularly, because a saturated pad works less evenly.
Tape off delicate edges, trim and badges so you do not run the pad onto sharp edges.
When to choose Medium Cut 2500
Medium Cut 2500 is the right choice for swirls, wash marks and light scratches on paint that is otherwise healthy. If the defects are deeper, start with a compound; if it is only a little dull, a finishing polish often does. You will find more compounds and polish in the compound and polish category.
