Krauss 8804 FN Paint Thickness Gauge Ferrous & Non-Ferrous

The Krauss 8804 FN paint thickness gauge measures the thickness of paint and coating on metal body panels with precision. It automatically detects whether you are measuring a ferrous (magnetic, like steel) or non-ferrous (non-magnetic, like aluminium or zinc) surface and adjusts the reading accordingly. That means you see within seconds whether a panel carries original paintwork or has been resprayed or repaired, essential for pre-purchase inspections and accident damage assessment. The large 2-line LCD screen flips 180 degrees, so you can read the value easily even at awkward angles. The gauge automatically stores the last 10 readings in memory, has a battery indicator and switches off on its own when not in use. Factory calibration delivers reliable results from the first measurement, and separately available calibration foils let you check accuracy yourself.

How to use

1. Switch on the gauge and place the probe flat and perpendicular on a clean, dry panel free of dirt or grease.

2. Wait for the signal and read the coating thickness in microns on the 2-line LCD screen.

3. Repeat the measurement at several spots on the same panel and compare against an untouched reference point, like the roof, to spot differences.

4. Scroll through the last 10 stored readings in memory to quickly flag and note down panels that stand out.
