Bilt Hamber etchweld

etchweld by Bilt Hamber combines an etch primer and an anti-corrosion primer in one liquid formula. It bonds chemically to bare metal and remains weldable after application for MIG or spot welding. Thinnable with cellulose thinners up to 50%, it sprays easily and provides a solid foundation for further paint systems including filler primer and 2K topcoat. Shake thoroughly for at least 2 minutes before use to ensure active ingredients are well mixed. Chemical adhesion means mechanical keying of the substrate is not required. Used by body repair professionals, restorers and serious DIYers who want a reliable first coat without compromising on adhesion or corrosion protection. Prepare the metal properly: blast or sand back to bare steel and degrease thoroughly.

How to use

1. Sand or blast the metal back to bare steel and degrease thoroughly. (Remove all rust, old paint and primer completely. Grease, oil or dust will compromise the chemical adhesion of etchweld.)

2. Shake etchweld for at least 2 minutes and thin if required with cellulose thinners, maximum 50%. (Test spray properties on a test panel before applying to the body panel.)

3. Apply thin, even coats and allow each coat to dry before the next paint stage. (Once dry, the panel remains weldable for MIG or spot welding if required.)

4. Follow with a filler primer or 2K topcoat as the next stage in the paint build. (Always follow the system recommendations of the topcoat product for best adhesion and durability.)

Follow up with a stone chip or underbody protection product for lasting rust prevention, and use a quality degreaser for clean metal before application.
