The D-CON Delta Pro polishing pads are a four-colour system for the dual-action machine, from hard to soft: grey (cutting) for the heaviest correction, green (polishing) for medium correction, yellow (finishing) for gloss and depth, and white (final finishing) for the last holograms and applying wax. You pick the pad that suits the step and match the polish to it. The slightly rounded edges protect trim and plastic while the pad spins.
The four pads and when to use them
The grey cutting pad is the hardest and is for deep scratches and oxidation, always with a cutting compound. The green polishing pad gives a medium cut and removes the light to moderate swirls and holograms the cutting step leaves behind. The yellow finishing pad builds gloss and depth with a finer polish. The white final finishing pad removes the last holograms and then applies wax or sealant. All pads have hook-and-loop backing, fit a dual-action machine and a rotary, and are suitable for paint, ceramic coating and PPF. Each pad has a hole in the middle for better cooling during longer sessions.
How to use it
Attach the pad with the hook-and-loop side to the backing plate of your dual-action machine. Pick the size that matches your backing plate, from 35 to 45 mm for tight spots to 150 mm for large panel surfaces.
Grey, cutting. For deep scratches and oxidation, start with the grey pad and a cutting compound. Work in sections of 60 by 60 cm and spread the compound on low speed first.
Green, polishing. Move to the green pad with a polish for medium correction: the lighter scratches and holograms the cutting step left behind.
Yellow, finishing. Build gloss and depth with the yellow pad and a finer polish.
White, final finishing. Remove the last holograms with a fine polish, then apply wax or sealant for the final gloss.
Not every job needs all four
Work as lightly as possible. Deep scratches call for the full sequence from grey to white. For light swirls you skip the grey and sometimes the green pad and start at the yellow or white. Make a test spot first to decide which pad you really need.
Pad maintenance
Clean the pad after each section with a little APC or dish soap, wet it and spin it dry on the machine. Replace the pad once it becomes saturated. Want the complete range at once?
