The Leather Expert Steering Wheel Care & Repair Kit is the most complete wheel set: cleaning, recolouring, filling minor damage and conditioning in one package. The kit holds a leather cleaner, preparer, alcohol cleaner, colourant, top coat, conditioner and a small pot of filler, plus sponges, brush, spatula, cloths and gloves. You will find the Leather Expert Steering Wheel Care & Repair Kit in the shop.
Difference from the restoration kit
Despite the name, this kit is actually more extensive than the bare restoration kit. It adds a leather cleaner for the pre-clean, a conditioner for the aftercare and a small pot of filler for minor damage, plus more tools. If you only want recolouring, the steering wheel restoration kit is enough; if you want cleaning, restoring and conditioning in one go, this Care & Repair Kit is more complete.
What is in the kit
The kit covers the whole chain of a wheel treatment. You clean first with the leather cleaner, remove the old layer with the preparer and degrease with the alcohol cleaner. Then you recolour with the colourant, seal with the top coat and feed the leather with the included Leather Expert Leather Conditioner. Minor damage you fill along the way with the pot of filler. You will find more leather restoration products in the leather cleaning and care category.
How to use it
Clean and prepare. Clean the wheel with the leather cleaner, remove the old layer with the preparer and degrease with the alcohol cleaner.
Fill minor damage. If there is a small crack or dent, fill it with the included pot of filler and let it dry.
Recolour and seal. Apply the colourant in thin layers, let it dry and finish with the top coat.
Condition and let it rest. After the rest time feed the leather with the conditioner so the wheel stays supple.
For which wheel
The Care & Repair Kit is meant for smooth leather wheels. For larger cracks or holes you use a separate repair kit first. Work at room temperature and keep to the rest time after recolouring before you condition. When in doubt, test on a small, hidden spot first.
Tips for the best result
Follow the order. Cleaning, prep, degreasing, colouring, sealing and only then conditioning gives the best result.
Work in thin layers. On a round wheel thin layers cover most evenly.
Use the gloves. That keeps grease from your hands off the clean leather.
Only condition after the rest time. The coating has to cure first before you apply care.
