Bilt Hamber Korrosol is a non-alkaline, pH-balanced fallout remover that safely takes embedded metal particles out of your paint. You spray it on neat onto a cool surface, and where there is contamination it turns purple as it reacts. Then you rinse everything off. You will find the Bilt Hamber Korrosol in the shop.
What Korrosol does
Brake dust, industrial fallout and rail dust leave iron particles that embed in the paint and rust. Bilt Hamber states that Korrosol makes those embedded metal particles water-soluble through a chelation process, so they rinse away. The purple colouration on application is a visible sign that the reaction is running. Because Korrosol is non-alkaline and pH-balanced (about pH 5.5 to 7), it is safe for all car paint finishes, including lacquers.
How to use it
Wash first. Wash the car and work on a cool surface, not on hot paint or in full sun.
Spray neat. Spray Korrosol liberally onto the paint; the 1-litre bottle comes with a trigger spray.
Let it react. Reaction time is temperature dependent, usually between fifteen seconds and five minutes; wait until the purple colouration stops deepening.
Rinse off. Rinse with a low-pressure hose or pressure washer and repeat on stubborn contamination.
What to watch for
Bilt Hamber warns not to use Korrosol on chromed plastic wheel centres or chrome film: the conductive material may come off. Use it on cool surfaces and test on a hidden spot first when in doubt. Work in a well-ventilated area and wear nitrile gloves; on eye contact rinse with plenty of water.
Korrosol or Auto-Wheel
Bilt Hamber distinguishes between Korrosol and their wheel cleaner Auto-Wheel. Korrosol is made for paintwork and spreads easily, while Auto-Wheel is made to cling to a dirtier, vertical wheel. Both tackle brake dust and metal fallout; choose the product that suits the surface. For rust protection on bare steel Bilt Hamber has separate products, so Korrosol is purely for fallout decontamination.
