Shiny Garage D-Tox is an iron and fallout remover that dissolves embedded metal particles from your paint and wheels. You spray it onto a cool, clean surface, and where iron sits the product starts to bleed: it turns red-purple as it reacts. Then you rinse everything off. You will find the Shiny Garage D-Tox in the shop.
What D-Tox does
Brake dust, industrial fallout and rail dust leave tiny iron particles that embed in your paint and wheels and start to rust: flying rust. Plain washing does not remove them. D-Tox contains an active ingredient that reacts with those iron particles and makes them water-soluble, so you can rinse them away. The colour change shows exactly where the contamination sits.
How to use it
Wash first. Wash the car and work on a cool surface in the shade, not in full sun or on hot paint.
Spray neat. Spread D-Tox evenly over paint or wheel and let it dwell for about two to three minutes.
Let it react. Where iron sits the product turns red-purple; let the reaction do its work and do not rub dry.
Rinse off. Rinse everything thoroughly under pressure before it dries, and repeat on heavy contamination.
What to watch for
Shiny Garage states that you do not use D-Tox on a warmed surface or in full sun. On glass, plastic, rubber, chrome or aluminium you test on a hidden spot first. Work in a well-ventilated area and wear gloves; the product can cause an allergic skin reaction. Do not let it dry on the paint.
See it in action
In this official Shiny Garage video you briefly see how D-Tox reacts on the paint and bleeds. Handy to recognise when the product is doing its work.
When to choose D-Tox
D-Tox is a solid choice for regular fallout decontamination of paint and wheels. To see how D-Tox compares to other iron and flying-rust removers, read the guide removing flying rust and fallout. You will find more products for this in the flying rust and fallout category.
