The steps we go through for Polishing.
The vehicle is first fully cleaned with snow foam and a hand wash to remove all surface dirt. This is essential to prevent loose particles from damaging the paint during the polishing process. Wheels, sills, and wheel arches are treated separately.
The paint surface is treated with iron remover and tar remover to eliminate invisible contaminants. We then carry out a clay bar treatment to remove all bonded particles from the surface. The result is a mirror-smooth surface ready for polishing.
Using a digital paint thickness gauge, we measure the paint thickness at multiple points on each panel. This determines how much correction is safely possible without thinning the paint. For thin paint or resprayed panels, we adapt our technique for a safe result.
Using professional Rupes and Flex eccentric and rotary polishing machines, we work in multiple steps: cutting (coarse correction), polishing (refinement), and finishing (final finish). Each step uses a specific combination of pad and compound. We remove swirl marks, scratches, oxidation, and holograms for a perfect result.
After polishing, the paint surface is wiped down with IPA (isopropyl alcohol) to remove all polishing residue. Under specialist inspection lighting (LED panels and sunlight), we check each panel for any remaining imperfections. Only when the result is perfect do we proceed.
Finally, we apply a high-quality protective layer: wax (3 months), sealant (6 months), or ceramic coating (2–9 years). This protects the polished paint against UV radiation, dirt, and light scratches. All details such as door jambs, rubber seals, and trim pieces are finished.
Tubbergen presents challenges typical of an agricultural rural area. Rural roads are salted in winter, but wear begins earlier: gravel on farm tracks and semi-surfaced agricultural paths causes stone chips that damage paintwork. Mud from fields and meadows clings to wheel arches and lower body panels, setting hard as cement if left too long.
The climate in northern Twente is harsher than elsewhere in the region. Cold easterly winds from Germany in winter, combined with raw, wet periods in spring and autumn, accelerate exterior paint deterioration. In summer, the rich agricultural surroundings deliver maximum pollen loads, followed by insect residue that adheres stubbornly to the front of the vehicle.
For the SUVs, pick-ups, and off-road vehicles that are disproportionately common in Tubbergen, periodic detailing is even more essential. Vehicles that regularly travel unpaved tracks and then appear in the village or at clients deserve treatment that combines both protection and presentation. Home service makes that especially straightforward - no drive to a car wash in the nearest town.
