Bilt Hamber Surfex HD is a powerful all-purpose cleaner and degreaser (APC) that tackles both grease and oil-based dirt and organic, water-based dirt. You dilute it to the weight of the job, apply it to a cool surface, let it dwell briefly and rinse. Surfex HD is biodegradable and VOC-free. You will find the Bilt Hamber Surfex HD in the shop.
What Surfex HD does
A good all-purpose cleaner adapts to the job, and with Surfex HD you do that through the dilution. For light dirt you use it strongly diluted; for heavy degreasing almost neat. So with one bottle you tackle a wide range of work: interior and upholstery, wheels and tires, wheel arches, degreasing brake calipers and general cleaning. Bilt Hamber states that besides grease Surfex HD also dissolves organic dirt, which a solvent-based cleaner does not.
Dilution ratios per job
The dilutions below come from Bilt Hamber itself. When in doubt start with a weaker dilution and work up.
Job | Dilution |
|---|---|
Light cleaning | 1:100 (up to 1:200) |
Interior and upholstery | 1 to 2% |
New car | 2 to 3% |
Pressure washer lance | 4% |
Wheel arches and tires | 5 to 10% |
Degreasing brake calipers | 10% |
Heavy degreasing | up to neat (100%) |
How to use it
Dilute. Mix Surfex HD with water in the ratio that suits your job.
On a cool surface. Apply the solution to a cool, not hot surface and let it dwell for one to five minutes.
Agitate on heavy soil. Work stubborn dirt with a stiff-bristled brush.
Rinse off. Rinse the surface thoroughly with clean, cold water.
What to watch for
Always test Surfex HD on a hidden spot first, certainly on sensitive or unknown materials. Work on a cool surface and not in full sun. For a pH-neutral, milder all-purpose cleaner you can also look at the Koch Chemie Green Star. You will find more all-purpose cleaners in the all-purpose cleaner (APC) category.
