The Leather Expert Leather Repair Kit is a complete set to repair cracks, holes, scratches and cuts in leather. The set holds, among other things, binder, glue, filler and flexi filler, degreasing wipes, a spatula, sponges and sandpaper. You restore the structure first, then fill the damage, touch up the colour and finish. You will find the Leather Expert Leather Repair Kit in the shop.
What is in the set
The repair kit bundles the products for the repair work itself. The binder binds weakened, loose leather fibres so the leather is strong enough to repair again. The glue fixes cracks, optionally with the included cloth or leather patch as backing for larger damage. The filler fills hard damage that you can sand afterwards, and the flexi filler fills shallow damage in areas that keep flexing. With the degreasing wipes, spatula, sponges and sandpaper you have the tools right there.
The set contains the repair part; you buy the colour and finishing step separately. After filling you touch up with a Leather Expert Leather Colourant and seal with a top coat. You will find all the separate products for this work in the leather cleaning and care category.
How to use it
Clean and degrease. Clean the leather and degrease the damage with the included wipe so everything adheres well.
Restore the structure. Fix cracks with the glue and treat weakened fibres with the binder, using a backing if needed.
Fill the damage. Apply filler with the spatula for hard holes, or flexi filler for shallow damage in flexing areas, in thin layers and let it dry.
Colour and finish. Sand smooth where needed, touch up with the colourant and seal with a top coat; work at room temperature and let it rest afterwards.
Which leather it suits
The repair kit is meant for natural, smooth leather. The degreasing wipes in the set are explicitly not for suede and nubuck, so you do not treat those materials with it. Work at room temperature, about fifteen to twenty-five degrees, so the products cure properly. When in doubt, test on a hidden spot first.
Tips for the best result
Build up in thin layers. Both the filler and the colour work best in several thin layers.
Choose the right filler. Use regular filler on hard, sandable spots and flexi filler on areas that flex.
Take your time. Let each layer dry properly before you continue.
Do not skip the finishing. A top coat protects the repair and the new colour.
